    The Municipality of Mambusao is a 3rd class municipality located at the heart of the Province of Capiz, Western Visayas(Region VI), Philippines. Mambusao is blessed with a fertile soil suitable to grow most type of agricultural crops, particularly rice. Thus, Mambusao is the major rice producer of the province and aptly called the “Rice Granary of Capiz”.

     Its exact location lies within the latitude of 11degrees and 09’ to 11degrees and 19’42” and the longitude of 122degrees 11’25” to 122degrees 34’45”. It is bounded on the North by the Municipality of Jamindan , Capiz and North-west by the Municipality of Libacao, Aklan, on the West by Province of Antique, on the South by the Municipalities of Calinog and Lambunao, Iloilo and on the East by the Municipality of Dumalag, Capiz and South-East by the Municipality of Bingawan, Iloilo. It is about sisty six (66) kilometers from Roxas City, the provincial capital. It can be reached by two alternative routes, via Jamindan and Dumalag, in two hours travel by passenger jeep or bus and one and a half hour for private vehicles. The completion of the upgrading of Tapaz-Jamindan and Dumalag – Tapaz roads has great impact increasing the volume of monitoring public, that avail of the short cut route along the central of Panay.

     Tapaz is considered the largest town of Capiz as to land area and population. The total land area of Tapaz is 51,718 hectares or 517.18 sq.km. It is a 1st class municipality composed of 58 Barangays, 22 of which are considered upland without roads and roads and these are where our indigenous people live. However, results of actual ground mapping shows that about 8,025.88 hectares of Tapaz have been included in the Municipality of Jamindan due to the establishment of the political boundary.

     The populace of these Barangays claims that they were established long before by the municipality of Tapaz, although the political boundary was not known. Jamindan is not contesting the area; instead they claim the area due to establishment of political boundary on the map, even in the absence of the technical description. The municipality of Tapaz is contesting the area of 8,025.88 hectares more or less with the municipality of Jamindan and this dispute was already sent to Regional and Center Office of DENR for proper action and assistance to the LGUs concerned. Tapaz has third type of climate characterizes by one not having a specific change of season. The type of rainfall that belongs to the thirs type is described as having no specific or pronounced rainy or dry season. The western part of Tapaz is concerned hilly mountainous while the southern part are of rolling hills. The eastern sides are spottd with hills and imitable rice lands. Tapaz has two major rivers, the Panay River and the Malinao River. Tapaz also serves as a major source of gravel and sand in the whole province.
